Research Summary
Wendpouire’s research investigates the effects of rapid urbanization and climate change on the city of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, which has seen its urban population grow significantly in recent decades. This rapid expansion brings with it challenges related to living comfort, sanitation, mobility, and environmental preservation, compounded by the effects of climate change such as heat waves, flooding, and droughts. The study will analyze urban policies and strategies in Greater Ouaga, assess climate dynamics up to 2030, and evaluate the role of urban planning in addressing these challenges. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, the research will examine the spatial configuration of the city, vulnerabilities linked to climate change, and the effectiveness of current urban planning tools. The goal is to provide insights and recommendations for urban strategies and policies that can help Greater Ouaga respond to the impacts of climate change and ensure sustainable development.
