Milcah Wambua is pursuing a PhD in Food Science at Egerton University, Kenya. Her areas of specialization include food product development, quality assurance and food chemistry. Her PhD research is a continuation of her MSc research on the utilization of cassava in making food products for both domestic and commercial purposes. Milcah holds a BSc in Food Science and Technology and a MSc in Food Science from Egerton University. Milcah is also an entrepreneur in the Hotel and Hospitality Industry, and serves as a part-time lecturer at Egerton University, where she enjoys sharing her knowledge and skills with younger generations of students.
Research & Work
Milcah’s passion is in ensuring sufficient quality food for all Kenyans through value-addition to food crops, especially drought-resistant crops like cassava. Milcah has published two papers on her findings in peer-reviewed journals and looks forward to building new knowledge and adding to discourse on cassava as a value-added product. Her research will contribute to food security, improved nutrition and income of smallholder farmers in Kenya through innovations in the cassava value chain by developing enriched cassava food products for domestic and commercial purposes.
