Research Summary
Julien’s research addresses the critical issue of gender-based violence (GBV) among internally displaced people (IDPs) in Tiko Sub-Division, Cameroon, a region significantly affected by the ongoing conflict. While there is existing research on GBV in Cameroon, there is a lack of studies focused on the specific experiences of IDPs, especially in the crisis context of Tiko. The study examines the prevalence, forms, and contributing factors of GBV, as well as the coping mechanisms employed by IDPs. By utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups, the research seeks to fill these knowledge gaps and provide evidence-based insights for policy interventions. The goal is to improve support services, inform humanitarian responses, and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 5, promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls in Cameroon and beyond.
