Education
Sally Musungu is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Environmental Policy, and a faculty member of Public Health at the Imperial College London. In collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in Uganda, she will model the impacts of climate change on crop pests in Uganda. She is a former Program Manager and Agronomist at Agrocares Limited and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, respectively.
Research & Work
Climate-resilient interventions in Africa are constrained by weak and/or no monitoring frameworks to guide policymakers in making informed and timely decisions. Modeling frameworks that ensure consistency in monitoring climate-driven pest/crop trends is essential. Sally is investigating the impact of enhanced climate change on crop pests in Uganda. She will develop a pest monitoring framework that will guide policymakers to fortify interventions that will reduce/ manage crop pest burden in the near future. The main impact will be at the scientific end of the continuum, leading to a robust crop pest-climate change database.
