Research Summary
Dellilah’s research focuses on the impact of multi-sensory teaching strategies in helping learners with deaf-blindness acquire pre-numeracy skills in Kenya. Despite the proven effectiveness of multi-sensory approaches in children without disabilities, there is limited research on their application for learners with deaf-blindness, whose acquisition of numeracy skills remains low. The study aims to explore how multi-sensory teaching can influence the development of classification, pre-number, measuring, and motor skills, which are crucial for independent living. The research will analyze data from teachers and learners, using both qualitative and quantitative methods, to understand the effectiveness of these strategies. The findings aim to inform teaching practices and policy decisions, enhancing the learning experience and fostering self-reliance for learners with deaf-blindness in Kenya.
